You should definitely not skip this Spanish fishing village! Cadaqués (pronounced “ka-da-kes”) is located in a beautiful bay, close to the Cap de Creus nature reserve, and has only 2,900 inhabitants. The white houses of old Cadaqués are all clumped around the village church “Iglesia Santa María”.

In the mid-twentieth century a number of well-known Spanish artists settled in this picturesque village. Federico García Lorca, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró contributed to the fame of Cadaqués. The surrealist artist Salvador Dalí had a house in Port Lligat, just outside Cadaqués. His statue is right on the beach and since 1997 his house has been a museum. Read more about Salvador Dalí here.
North of Cadaqués is the famous Cap de Creus nature reserve. Salvador Dalí often came here to gain inspiration. A beautiful landscape, beautiful views, and a thousand other wonders of nature. Between the white houses that are so characteristic of Cadaqués are also some beautiful modernist buildings. The most special is Casa Serinyana also called “La Casa Blau”. Between the narrow streets, uphill, downhill is the Iglesia de Santa Mariá. The church stands on the highest point of the village, with a beautiful view as a result! El Barroco is also called the Dalí restaurant. In 1978 he designed the logo and he also liked to come there! The restaurant has a beautiful patio in a unique location in Cadaqués.
